Sally Sutton is an award-winning children's writer known for her high-energy rhymes and playful
language.
Her picture books include Roadworks (illustrated by Brian Lovelock, winner of the picture book
section of the NZ Post Children's Book Awards 2009) and its companions Demolition and Construction
(finalist in the NZ Children's Book Awards 2015); Farmer John's Tractor (with Robyn Belton), Ben and
the Icky-Ooky-Sticky-Smick (with Gary Venn), Catch That Plane! (with Sylvie Currin Korankova) and
Zoo Train (with Daron Parton), all published by Walker Books.
She also writes junior fiction, such as her native animal Diary series, published by Scholastic. Several
of her books have been made Storylines Notable Books. She holds an M.A. (1st-class-Hons.) in German
from the University of Auckland. Sally has a keen interest in literacy, and also enjoys writing plays. She
lives in Auckland with her husband and two daughters.
Sally will be in conversation with Sharon Holt about her writing and will read from her work.
