Collingwood Street, Hamilton

Tuesday 4 August

7pm

Robin Robilliard and Kingsley Field will talk about memoir and news writing in an evening session with chair Sam Edwards.

Robin has recently published a memoir "Hard Country". This is an entertaining story about setting out to farm

Golden Bay's appropriately named Rocklands, "undoubtedly some of the worst land in the country", according to Robin.

Isolation and hardship were constant companions for Robin Robilliard and husband Garry after they moved there as

newlyweds in 1957. It was a rugged, pioneering - at times hair-raising - life, peopled by fascinating characters, all of

which Robilliard describes vividly, with compassion and wit.

Kingsley is a columnist with the Waikato Times. His Outdoors columns appear fortnightly, and he has recently published a selected 25 columns in illustrated book form.

This event is supported by Poppies Book Shop with books for sale and signing.
