Year 10 students from five Hamilton secondary schools have been selected to participate in an afternoon poetry workshop
held at Rototuna Junior High School with Glenn Colquhoun. Students will hear Glenn read and will develop a range of
writing strategies in a practical session.
Glenn Colquhoun is a doctor, poet and children's writer.

Glenn's advice to aspiring young writers:
"Find an idea you believe in and just write. Read the sort of stuff you want to write, but in the end you have to put in the hard yards. If you want to write poems — go and write 100 of them and then you’ll have an idea of where you are heading. I got an empty exercise book and told myself I would write a poem a week no matter what. I filled up 5 exercise books before I got anything published!"
