In this interactive workshop, Donovan Bixley will be getting to the heart of the matter with how he makes words
and pictures work together. You’ll be given some analogue tools (paper and pencils) to carry out some fun
exercises and Donovan will give hands-on examples.

Publishing over 100 books in 31 countries, translated into 18 languages, and with 18 books in the New Zealand bestsellers list, Donovan
knows what he’s talking about. Donovan has won awards for his work as an illustrator, writer and designer, and has won the Overall
Children’s Choice, Best Illustration, and Best Junior Fiction awards at The New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.

Donovan is also taking part in the NZ Children's Book Illustration and Design Panel at 5.30pm on Tuesday 7 August. This panel is for those with an interest in illustration and publishing, and gathers a collective of New Zealand authors, illustrators and designers together to answer questions on their works
and the industry.

Preference is given to Wintec students for this event, but members of the public are encouraged to email megan.lyon@wintec.ac.nz to go on the event waiting list.
