Travel writer Angie Belcher leads a practical workshop with a general focus on travel writing and blogging.
Learn how to find the angle, write a catchy opener, build and hold interest in the body of your article. Find out about skilful
interviewing and the use of quotes. Discover how to take great photographs to accompany your article.

You'll learn how to identify markets in terms of content, style and format. You'll get useful tips on pitching your idea and mastering the art of the query letter. Find out the pros and cons of queries, commissions and sending unsolicited articles. Finally, get answers to your questions. Will I make any money? Get free opportunities? Or just have the pleasure of seeing my work in print?

Angie Belcher’s penchant for adrenaline inducing adventures and travel to distant destinations was an expensive addiction, so writing and selling articles seemed the perfect way to sustain this lifestyle. Diving, caving, hiking, biking and simply developing an acute awareness of the adventures surrounding everyday life resulted in the publication of over 200 articles in travel, adventure, lifestyle and Inflight magazines such as NZ Adventure, Asian Diver, Tauchen (Germany), Club Marine (Australia) and Silver Kris (Singapore), as well as commissioned work in Sri Lanka, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and parts of Europe. Her most recent works can be found online via www.stuff.co.nz
Angie has dabbled in most written art forms including children’s fiction and non-fiction, blogging, short stories, poetry and prose and is this year exploring the art
of play-writing. As an avid storyteller you’ll often see her in chicken costume ruffling a few feathers with her farmyard tales or using storytelling to get across environmental messages. She is an accomplished speaker and former teacher who draws upon many different skills and experiences to both teach and entertain.
