The Waikato Children's Literature Association seminar Illustrators & Authors features Nikki Slade Robinson and Deborah Hinde. 

​

Deborah Hinde has illustrated over 70 books, fiction and non-fiction. Her first book, A Kiwi Night Before Christmas (Scholastic NZ, 2003), is a New Zealand classic with a companion title scheduled for release later this year. Since then, Deborah has illustrated another 34 books including the award-winning Te Reo Singalong series and more recently the best-selling children’s book for 2017, Moo and Moo and the Little Calf Too (Allen & Unwin, 2017). In 2018 Deborah received a Storylines Notable Book Award for illustrating The Spaghetti Giraffe (Flat Bed Press, 2017). In 2016 Deborah published her first authored and illustrated book Hare (PictureBook Publishing) and has another book scheduled for release in September 2018.

 

Nikki Slade Robinson is an award-winning author-illustrator. After studying at Wellington Polytechnic’s School of Design, she freelanced working commercially and for publishers. Books she has written and illustrated include The little Kiwi’s Matariki (2016 Best Picture Book NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults), Ruru's Hangi, Muddle & Mo Storylines Notable Book and I am an Artist. Among the books she’s illustrated for others are Mind your Gramma by Yvonne Morrison, Starkey the Gentle Pirate by Peter Bland and The Seven Stars of Matariki by Toni Rolleston-Cummins.
