Friday 24 August

1.30-3.15pm

Free event for secondary school students

Students from Hamilton secondary schools have been selected to participate in an afternoon poetry workshop

held at Wintec with Therese Lloyd. Students will hear Therese read and will develop a range of writing strategies

in a practical workshop session.

Therese Lloyd is a Wellington poet currently living in Hamilton as the 2018 Waikato University Writer in Residence.

Her first full length poetry collection, Other Animals, was published by VUP in 2013, and her second collection, The Facts, was released in March this year.

She has a PhD in Creative Writing from Victoria University where her research focus was ekphrasis, poetry about art.

Alongside her two full collections, she also has a chapbook published by Pania Press called many things happened. She has had a number of poems published in various journals and publications, including the AUP series New Zealand Poets in Performance, and earlier this year, her work appeared in the US’s longest running literary journal, Poetry.
